Tetra2Go Setup Instructions

Tetra2Go Setup Instructions

Your Tetra2Go comes with WLED pre-installed and ready to use. These instructions walk you through first-time setup, configuration, and connecting to your network. If you ever need to re-flash the firmware, download links are provided at the bottom of this page.

Need to re-flash your firmware? The easiest way is our Web Flasher — it works directly in Chrome or Edge with no software to install (serial drivers still required). Manual download links are available at the bottom of this page if preferred.
1 Configure the Correct Voltage

The Tetra2Go supports either 5V or 12V pixels. Before connecting anything, ensure the voltage jumper on the board is set to match your power supply and pixels.

Critical: Selecting the incorrect voltage can damage your Tetra2Go controller and/or your LEDs. Always verify this setting before applying power.
2 Connect Your Power Supply

Connect the voltage and ground lines from your DC power supply to the power connector on the Tetra2Go. The Voltage (V+) connects to the 5V/12V terminal and Ground (V-) connects to the GND terminal.

Reverse polarity protection: If you see a red LED lit on the controller after connecting power, you have connected the DC cable backwards. Disconnect power immediately and wait for the red LED to go out before reconnecting with correct polarity.

The reverse-protection circuit protects the controller only — any LEDs connected at the time may still be damaged. Always power on without pixels first to verify correct polarity.

Once connected correctly, the red LED on the ESP32 will light and the controller will begin booting WLED.

3 Connect Your Pixels

Remove the male connectors from the Phoenix connectors on the bottom of the board. Insert the wires from your pixel strand into a connector, ensuring that Voltage (V), Data (D), and Ground (G) match the diagram above.

Tip: The Tetra2Go has four pixel outputs. Connect one strand per output as needed. All outputs share the same power supply connection.
4 Connect to WLED for the First Time

On your phone or computer, open WiFi settings and look for a network named WLED-Tetra2Go. Connect to it — if prompted for a password, enter wled1234.

A browser window should open automatically with the WLED welcome screen. If it does not, open your browser and navigate to http://4.3.2.1

5 Set Your Current Limit

Setting a current limit prevents the controller from drawing more power than it can safely handle. Navigate to Config → LED & Hardware (called LED Preferences in versions older than 0.16).

Set Maximum PSU Current to 20000 mA (5A × 4 outputs). Then check the box labeled "Use per-output limiter" — this distributes the 20000mA evenly across all four outputs, capping each at 5000mA.

Finally, set mA/LED to 30mA (typ, 12V) if you are using 12V bullet pixels. This improves WLED's current estimation accuracy.

6 Connect to Your Network

Navigate to Config → WiFi Setup and enter your network SSID and password. Click Save & Connect, then wait a few seconds and refresh the page.

Once connected, your assigned IP address will appear above the Configure Access Point section. You can then access the Tetra2Go directly via your browser by entering this IP in the URL bar.

Avoid special characters in your SSID. Spaces, apostrophes, and other special characters can prevent WLED from connecting. Rename your network temporarily if needed.
Static IP: If you need a fixed IP, populate the IP Address, Gateway, and Subnet Mask fields — a Gateway is required even if you don't use one. Alternatively, set an IP reservation in your router so it always assigns the same address without changing WLED settings.
7 Install the WLED App (Optional)

The WLED mobile app makes it easy to discover and control your controller without needing to know its IP address. Tap + then Discover Lights to find your Tetra2Go automatically.

The original WLED app is no longer on the App Store. Use WLED Native instead.
8 Configure LED Count and Color Order

By default, the Tetra2Go is configured for 100 pixels on each of its four outputs. When first powered on with pixels connected, they will display an amber/orange color — this is normal.

Pixels displaying orange on first boot

Most bullet pixels use an RGB color order, which is the default. If your colors don't display correctly, identify the correct color order using the method below.

  1. Set your lights to Red in WLED. Note the color that actually appears on the pixels.
  2. Set to Green. Note the color.
  3. Set to Blue. Note the color.
  4. The first letters of the three observed colors form your correct color order (e.g. Blue, Green, Red = BGR).

Navigate to Config → LED Preferences → Hardware Setup → LED Outputs → Color Order and update the setting for each output. Click Save when done.
